Return of MetaZoo: Player Spotlight with Meta Wizard and MetaZoo Mae

HOUSTON, TX - April 2025

During the Return of MetaZoo Tournament held during Collect-A-Con Houston, MetaZoo News caught up with two standout casters: Meta WiZARD, the tournament's second-place finisher, and MetaZoo Mae, a newcomer who competed in her first-ever MetaZoo tournament.

Both players shared their thoughts on competing in the first community-run MetaZoo tournament of the new era, reflecting on the energy, challenges and advice for future casters.

Meta WiZARD on the Finals and a Close Finish

Meta WiZARD impressed throughout the event, navigating a highly competitive field all the way to the final round. Reflecting on the experience, he admitted the final round was tougher than expected.

The most challenging moment for me was playing Dustin in that final match. I mean, I didn't expect this primary air build to be so powerful. The Javier deck was killing it the whole way though, but it got me in the end.

The final score came down to a narrow 24-30 finish, highlighting just how close the competition was.

Despite the loss, Meta WiZARD took second place with pride, noting how special it was to be part of MetaZoo's new competitive chapter.

MetaZoo Mae on Jumping Into Competitive Play

For MetaZoo Mae, the tournament was her first competitive experience in the world of MetaZoo, and though nerves were high at the start, she found her groove quickly.

It was a little nerve-wracking, but honestly, once you sit down and you start going, you kind of get in your groove, and it was fun!

Mae shared that one of her most memorable matches was a close game against a player named Krispy - both players running similar decks and finishing the match with almost identical scores before Krispy edged out the win.

Advice for New Casters

Both players offered encouragement for anyone thinking about entering their first tournament:

"Reach out to people in the MetaZoo community because that has been a big help" Mae said, " Find some people, build a community and just have fun!"

"Start by playing Alpha Decks," added Meta WiZARD, "They're super user-friendly and really easy to get into. You learn how to play, start crafting up your own decks and play the full version!"

Congratulations again to Meta WiZARD on an incredible second-place finish, and major props to MetaZoo Mae for stepping into the arena for the very first time!
