The transition follows a legal process through Meta's intellectual property and account recovery system, and marks a turning point in MetaZoo's digital presence following the game's revival.
Until now, the brand had been using @metazootcgofficial, the account created after MetaTwo's successful bid for MetaZoo's IP during bankruptcy proceedings. With the original handle now back in trusted hands, the team is preparing to consolidate their Instagram activity into a single, centralized platform.
While this move helps streamline communication and eliminate confusion for new fans entering the game, it also risks losing much of the game's early community history - posts that captured key moments from the original MetaZoo era, now numbering over 1000.
To help preserve that history, MetaZooNews is expanding the MetaZoo Archive Project- our comprehensive database cataloging every card ever printed by GQL - to now include a full archival record of MetaZoo's original Instagram posts. This new section will house over 1000 posts, complete with images, captions and timestamps, serving as a permanent digital time capsule of the brand's journey.
This is a major addition to the archive, and due to the volume of content, it will take time to complete. But when finished, it will offer fans a powerful way to explore MetaZoo's evolution, jot just through its cards, but through its community-facing story.
In the meantime, fans are encouraged to screenshot or save posts they want to preserve, as the original account may begin archiving its history soon.
