Base Set Printing Wraps, Flex Decks Headed to Stores Soon

Revealed during the June 16 MetaZoo Monday chat, Charlie Hurlocker confirmed the end of the Base Set print run and shared updates on Flex Deck delays and distribution clarity.

Base Set Booster Box Is Officially Out of Print

MetaZoo’s Base Set Booster Box has reached the end of its run. During the June 16 MetaZoo Monday chat, Charlie Hurlocker confirmed the product’s official retirement:

Just wanted to confirm that the Base Set Booster Box is out of print.

While this might be a bittersweet moment for collectors, it doesn't mean Base Set packs are vanishing altogether. Charlie went on to clarify:

There are scheduled SKUs like the flex decks and some other things that I’m not quite ready to spoil that contain packs, especially for opening up international distribution channels and supporting new play access in physical stores, so you will continue to see some applications. But there will be no more base set printed.
- Charlie Hurlocker

In other words, existing print runs will continue to appear in future products, especially those aimed at helping the game grow beyond its core audience. But once those are gone - that's it.

Flex Decks Face Shipping Delays (But They’re Printed & On Their Way!)

The much-anticipated Flex Decks are real, printed, and on their way — just not quite as fast as originally hoped. According to Charlie:

Flex Decks: Printed and shipping. Distro should be communicating the delays.
- Charlie Hurlocker

The delays come from a last-minute quality control issue that had to be addressed before shipping. Charlie explained the situation:

There was a quality control issue unfortunately at the last second that was corrected. Had to make the call to get the product right and see a small date bump.”
- Charlie Hurlocker

Most domestic orders should expect a delay of one to two weeks, while international cases are either on time or up to two weeks late.

They should be between one and two weeks late for most domestic cases. International should be on time to 2 weeks delayed.

Though, at the Dallas Collect-A-Con held June 13-14, 2025, Flex Decks made their debut to a limited audience and were met with rave reviews. Waka Flocka Flame attended the Flex Deck tournament along with Gary "King Pokemon" and managed to pull some alt-art heat from the packs included with the decks while another participant pulled a hidden-rare Poncho Mothman! Have no doubt - these Flex Decks are an excellent resource for prospective players and collectors alike!
