Casters,
Today, January 15th, 2026, marks one full year since MetaZoo News officially launched.
When meta.carpals and I started MetaZoo News, I honestly did not know what it would become. At the time, MetaZoo was in a strange and uncertain place. Information was scattered. Important context was getting lost. A lot of conversations were happening in private spaces, while the public-facing story of the game felt incomplete.
MetaZoo News began as a simple attempt to fix that.
The original goal was not growth, influence, or branding; it was accuracy. I wanted a place that treated MetaZoo seriously as a game, a creative project, and a community. A place where news was sourced carefully, history was preserved properly, and creators and community members were given room to actually explain themselves in their own words.
Over the past year, MetaZoo News has grown well beyond that initial idea.
We have published coverage of major announcements and product releases, conducted long-form interviews with artists and community figures, documented parts of MetaZoo’s history that were at risk of disappearing, and built tools meant to actually help players engage with the game. We have shown up at events, highlighted deckbuilders and competitors, and created space for thoughtful discussion instead of reactionary noise.
Most importantly, MetaZoo News has stayed independent.
This site is not owned by MetaZoo. It is not sponsored coverage. It is not written to push a narrative. Every article, interview, and feature is approached with the same mindset I had on day one. If it is not accurate, fair, or useful to the community, it does not belong here.
None of this would exist without the people reading this.
The artists who trusted me with their time.
The players who shared their decks and ideas.
The collectors who cared enough to ask questions.
The casters who stuck with the game through its lowest points and still believed it was worth talking about.
Your support, feedback, corrections, and encouragement are the reason MetaZoo News is still here a year later.
As we move into year two, the focus stays the same. Better interviews. Deeper coverage. More tools. More history preserved. More community voices elevated. I want MetaZoo News to continue being a place you can trust, whether you are brand new to the game or have been here since the beginning.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. Thank you for holding us to a high standard.
It is because of all of YOU that I can truthfully say that Magic is Real and Real Magic is EVERYWHERE!
Signed Sincerely,
Eric (meta.shab)
