Casters,
This week’s MetaZoo Monday featured a casual Q&A with the MetaTwo team of Ben, Anonymous Bob, and GQL's head writer MGR. While there weren’t any groundbreaking announcements, fans were treated to four new spoiler reveals and a few light updates on upcoming projects.
The biggest excitement came from the card reveals. We got our first look at Mongolian Death Worm, a destructive Lightning Cryptid with direct damage potential. Jetsam, a zero-cost Water equipment token, offers flavorful art and utility. The two new Casters, Isabella Torres and Caitlin Cardoza, hint at intriguing deck strategies — Isabella expands friendly lane limits when fully juiced, while Caitlin lets you cycle cards from hand to deck with her “Ice Cycle” ability.
Beyond the spoilers, a few community questions yielded some interesting tidbits. Ben confirmed that The Hunt v.3 is coming before release and is loaded with alternate arts and surprises. When asked about leftover convention promos, Bob stated they are destroyed at the end of each season. MGR also gave a small update on the upcoming MetaZoo children’s book, revealing that discussions are happening with major retailers and that a sequel is already being written.
Bob addressed a few gameplay curiosities too. Regarding aura types and Terra from old MetaZoo, he simply teased that “the MetaZoo universe is big with a lot to come.” On the deckbuilding front, both Ben and Bob reminded players that Flex Decks will provide everything needed to jump into the game — including two prebuilt deck options and packs for customization.
While the question of aura bricks wasn't directly answered, one can hope that the ability to access aura will increase as time moves forward, and as the Masked Caster pointed out, you can always proxy them if needed! As for future accessories like branded binders, Bob confirmed they’ve been discussed internally, though nothing is finalized yet.
If you're interested to know if MetaZoo will be coming to a Collect-A-Con near you, some good news was shared that MetaZoo plans to be at every Collect-A-Con through the end of 2025.
Lore Watch: MGR Takes the Lead
While most of the evening focused on spoilers and brief updates, MGR provided some compelling insight into the narrative direction of MetaZoo. He shared that he previously worked on the Weatherlight Saga for Magic: The Gathering and is bringing that same long-form, interconnected storytelling style to the world of MetaZoo. He hinted at a future “epic cross–Easter egg series of tie-ins” and even mentioned plans to collaborate with community members on stories down the line.
MGR also confirmed that Conjuring of Cryptids, the first Abraham novel, is about a third complete and already past 40,000 words. He expects it to land at around 95,000 words, with Book 2 to follow immediately after. While there are internal discussions about incorporating Abraham into future card sets, MGR noted that it will come later — after the character’s arc matures further in the story.
Readers following the lore should also keep an eye out for the next standalone story, which drops on 7-15-25 and has direct ties to the Abraham narrative. The next full Abraham chapter will follow a week later.
